The above view is of the SR99 tunnel currently being constructed underneath Seattle. It is the view from Big Bertha looking back whence it came. Her cutting head is about 400 feet in from the starting point. The tunnel, when complete, will replace the aging viaduct that clutters Seattle’s waterfront and threatens to fall apart during the next big quake.

If lane lines are painted on the floor “as is”, the tunnel could be almost as fun to drive as the Viaduct is. But I doubt that will happen. Somebody probably already has a wild hair idea about adding a flat area to drive on, ruining the ride.
